We're Here for the Value,
Not the Points
When facing complex sustainability questions, we work with you to develop the right plan for your company, your project, and your goals.
At Epsten Group, we have the expertise to help you build a brand that is sustainably sound while creating spaces that promote healthy living. No matter the industry or facility type, whether it’s new construction or an existing building, we take the headache out of the hurdle. Our matchless skill level comes from our third-party roots – we have completed technical assessments in 55 countries and counting for more than 13,000 projects, including commercial buildings, government facilities, academic institutions, hospitals, retail spaces, mixed-use developments, communities, and existing buildings.
From schematic design through certification administration, we are there every step of the way. The world of sustainability is constantly evolving. As new rating systems and methods are introduced, we invest our own time into mastering them so our clients stay ahead of the game, too.
The following is a list of where we excel. If you are looking for specific services, we encourage you to reach out to one of our experts to learn more.
LEED Consulting
LEED is a certification program and green building rating system that focuses on reducing resources and environmental impact, saving building owners and operators costs while managing the project’s overall carbon footprint. With a focus on project location, building system selection, operations, maintenance, and the indoor environment, LEED has been the chosen certification program for the building industry. As third-party verifiers for Green Business Certifications, Inc. (GBCI) and proven providers for LEED Consulting, we excel at projects that overlap multiple rating systems alongside LEED, utilizing crosswalks and our extensive knowledge of every iteration of the rating system. No matter the complexity, our in-house experts will take your project through the process in order to achieve a profitable outcome.
Fitwel Consulting
Fitwel is a certification system designed by the Centers for Disease Control that includes over 55 evidence-based design and operational principals aiming to improve health for building occupants. Fitwel excludes prerequisites, allowing the certification system to be more easily applicable to both new and existing projects. Epsten Group is recognized as Fitwel Champions. SITES Consulting
The Sustainable SITES Initiative is used by landscape architects, architects, engineers, developers, and other project stakeholders as a comprehensive rating tool for developing sustainable landscapes. SITES recognizes the critical importance of landscapes in the built environment and how they benefit project owners, building occupants, communities, and the environment. SITES is available to locations with or without buildings, with consulting teams working in collaboration with registered landscape architects. Projects earning SITES Gold automatically achieve all Sustainable SITES points within the LEED rating system.
Indoor Air Quality Testing
According to the Indoor Air Quality Association, most people spend at least 90% of their day indoors. Indoor air quality is vital to the health, comfort, and productivity of the occupants in your space. Our technicians can perform testing and assessments of any indoor environment. We start by visiting your space to perform tests and collect samples. Our experts then analyze the laboratory results and provide recommendations with a detailed report outlining actionable next steps to combat deficiencies and ensure optimal indoor air quality.
WELL Building Consulting
The WELL Building Standard is the leading global rating system, improving the health and wellness of building occupants through better designs, operations, and organizational policies. With over 350M certified SF accumulated since its introduction in late 2014, this evidence-based process highlights the benefit of investing in a building that promotes health and well-being. Our team has a deep understanding of WELL’s rigor and performance-based verification system, providing expertise on how to attract, retain, and increase productivity for the people who live, work, and play in the spaces you create.
ESG Consulting
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) refers to the three key factors used when measuring the environmental and ethical impact of a business or company. Annual ESG Reports have emerged as the standard for benchmarking corporate responsibility for businesses across the globe. They use frameworks to outline data and key information on your impacts and successes in an accessible way for a wide array of audiences to digest. ESG reporting is an important indicator of your company’s overall health and wellness. Integrating your company’s goals, values, culture, and leadership into business strategies helps to mitigate risk, reduce costs, and set the stage for a profitable future. Defining and gathering the necessary data effectively and accurately so that it can be distilled into a comprehensive report can be challenging at every step; that’s where we come in. We provide a 3-step process – framework, benchmarking, and goal-setting – that utilizes the certifications systems and consulting work that we’ve been pioneering for decades. We incorporate third-party verification with various partners across multiple fields of expertise to ensure all results are independently reported with pinpoint accuracy. As experts in the field of sustainability, we’ll collaborate with you wherever you are in your process to ensure you can confidently provide an in-depth ESG report to encourage connection to your stakeholders, your team, your community, and more. Living Building Challenge (LBC) Consulting
LBC is essential to achieve a truly sustainable project, though it is also one of the most rigorous and challenging certification programs due to its demanding requests and complex requirements. While costs for certification are low, creating a space that adheres to LBC takes a substantial investment of time and effort. True to our own mission and culture, we are eager to share the knowledge we have gained in working with this rating system. We have proudly provided consulting expertise on some of the first Living Building projects in the Southeastern US, including the new Epsten Group headquarters.
Building System + Enclosure Modeling
Our Energy and HVAC expertise go hand-in-hand with our consulting services. The energy modeling experts who act as our third-party verifiers are the same people who lead our projects with proven precision, creating healthier spaces with increased performance savings and outdoor air ventilation rates. Too often we have seen project teams rely on inadequate knowledge, facing a hard struggle as a result. We are here to help. Our team can handle all your project needs, whether you are working toward Net Zero Certification, LEED, Georgia Peach, or Building Enclosure Optimization.
Parksmart Consulting
Parksmart is the only certification program in the world that defines, measures, and recognizes sustainable parking garages. Parking structures earn points toward Parksmart certification in three categories: management, programs, and technology structure design. Standalone and mixed-use developments parking garages are eligible for Parksmart certification.
