The Zoo Atlanta African Lions’ habitat renovation highlights our focus on the visitor’s experience as well as the skillful design process when repurposing materials. This extensive 12,500 square foot project introduces a range of new features aimed at both the comfort of the lions and the enjoyment of our guests.
Visitors can now enjoy enhanced upper and lower viewing areas, each equipped with expansive glass panels that provide unobstructed views of the majestic lions. A new water feature has been added, offering a refreshing element for the lions and an engaging visual for visitors. Shaded areas have been thoughtfully incorporated to ensure both the lions and guests can find respite from the sun. In addition to these features, the habitat boasts updated fencing that blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings, and improved vegetation that not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also contributes to the overall sustainability of the environment.
