Toronto Zoo, Red Panda Exhibit

RENDER 01
Project Description

In collaboration with Coolearth Architecture, the Architect of Record, Epsten Group contributed detailed design development and execution support for the Toronto Zoo’s Red Panda Exhibit. Together, we transformed the existing holding building into a modern, efficient management center designed specifically for red pandas. Together, we built the conceptual design, integrating naturalistic habitats, visitor viewing zones, and animal support facilities.

The habitat balances animal welfare and visitor engagement through immersive landscapes, discrete barriers, climbing structures, and ADA-accessible circulation. Efficiencies in animal care logistics and visitor experience guided the design, ensuring the exhibit supports both staff operations and educational goals. By providing a comprehensive solution that prioritizes animal care, staff functionality, and public education, the project delivers significant value to the client and sets a new standard in sustainable zoo design.
