As a leader in sustainable design and consulting, Epsten Group is dedicated to shaping the future of health care environments. Our expertise in energy efficiency, building performance, and sustainability-driven solutions has helped create healthier, more efficient, and resilient facilities.
We are excited to bring our expertise to the 2025 International Summit & Exhibition on Health Facility Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) hosted by ASHE in Atlanta, where we will showcase our contributions to the health care sector. You’ll find us at the Salas O’Brien booth, where Marianna Palmour, AVP | Senior Manager of ESG, and Darren Draper, Principal | Director of Commissioning, will be available to discuss our latest innovations and how we help health care organizations meet their sustainability and operational goals.
Driving Sustainable Health Care Solutions
From new construction to facility upgrades, our work ensures that health care spaces operate efficiently while enhancing patient care. Here are some of our key projects:
HealthFirst Cape Canaveral Hospital – Merritt Island, FL
We conducted a comprehensive sustainability review, assessing existing assets, operations, and maintenance practices to establish a baseline for improvement. Through multiple stakeholder charrettes, we identified project goals and developed a Basis of Design that aligned with ESG metrics. Our Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR) document ensured that sustainability remained a priority throughout design and operation.
Kaiser Permanente Facilities – Georgia
We provided roofing consulting and design services at multiple Kaiser locations, including:
- Glenlake Medical Center (Sandy Springs) – Initial evaluations, design reviews, site visits, and final inspections.
- Gwinnett Medical Center (Duluth) – Comprehensive assessments and oversight to ensure high-performance roofing systems.
- Panola Medical Center (Lithonia) – Evaluations, proposal reviews, and installation oversight for long-term durability and sustainability.
UHS Facilities
We provided Building Enclosure services for multiple UHS locations, including:
- Edinburg Tower (McAllen, TX) – Enclosure consulting for a five-story patient tower expansion, ensuring high-performance sustainability. The tower added 294 beds and advanced medical features, including a CAP Certified Lab and a Level IV Trauma designation.
- Inland Valley Medical Center (Wildomar, CA) – Enclosure services focusing on moisture management, thermal performance, and long-term durability, ensuring an energy-efficient and resilient facility.
- Rancho Springs Medical Center (Murrieta, CA) – Enclosure consulting and design review to enhance sustainability, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort through optimized building envelope performance.
- Cornerstone Facilities (Oregon) – Enclosure services to improve thermal insulation, air and moisture control, and overall resilience, enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability.
WellStar Douglas Women’s Center – Douglasville, GA
Our commissioning services helped ensure the successful launch of this state-of-the-art facility, which includes a Level II NICU, labor and delivery suites, and advanced health care technology.
Mercy Health Chiller Plant – Muskegon, MI
At Mercy Health’s central chiller plant, our commissioning experts investigated and resolved operational and performance issues, improving efficiency and reliability for the entire facility.
