Celebrating the grand opening of the world’s first LEED Gold-certified film and TV studio

Epsten Group is excited to celebrate the grand opening of Electric Owl Studios, the world’s first LEED® Gold-certified film and TV studio campus. This purpose-built studio, located in Atlanta, GA, is committed to quality, community, and sustainability.

Our team is honored to provide ongoing sustainability consulting services to assist studio leadership in achieving key green objectives.

“Our goal is to be the finest film & TV studio in the world by offering superior facilities, services, and a friendly, reliable experience for our production clients,” said Michael Hahn, Co-Founder and CEO of Capstone South Properties. “But what sets us apart is that Electric Owl Studios is the largest and greenest production facility in the world. And we hold the distinction of being the very first LEED Gold-certified studio on earth. We believe we are at a pivotal moment in the global fight against climate change. In our opinion, creating an environmentally sustainable business is no longer something that is nice to do, but something that is necessary to do.”

The 313,000-square-foot studio aims to reduce its carbon footprint by using efficient insulation, EV charging stations, and LED lighting as part of its green initiative. Once operational, it will generate more than 22 percent of its power from renewable sources.

Green amenities include:

  • 30% of energy costs from solar panels
  • Rainwater capture for on-site use
  • High-energy HVAC systems
  • 48 electric vehicle charging stations
  • Smart thermostats and LED lighting throughout the facility

A ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration was held on June 8 with nearly 150 guests in attendance, including numerous project team members and Dekalb County officials.
