Sustainable Design and Consulting Firm Outgrows One LEED Platinum Certified Office, Renovates Another
Atlanta (November 15, 2011) – With the announcement of LEED Platinum Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for their 9,000 square-foot office building, Epsten Group continues to demonstrate that the firm doesn’t just talk the talk when it comes to sustainable design. Like their previous space, which was the first LEED Platinum in Atlanta, the new office is located in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward, home to the birthplace and burial site of Martin Luther King, Jr. In spite of its illustrious history, the area fell on hard times and began to suffer from urban blight.
“True sustainability must include revitalized urban centers,” said Dagmar Epsten, Epsten Group’s president and CEO. “We look forward to our continued investment in the Old Fourth Ward community and are proud that our growth as a company has allowed us to bring not just one, but two LEED Platinum buildings to the neighborhood.” Originally constructed in the 1940s, Epsten Group’s new headquarters has achieved Four Green Globes in addition to its LEED certification. The building’s sustainable features include photovoltaic array roofing, a green roof, new energyefficient systems, lighting and windows, highly insulated walls with an air barrier, water-efficient fixtures, low-VOC paint, and salvaged wood.
The need for this new space resulted from the firm’s extraordinary growth in recent years. Thanks to their success with LEED consulting services and providing practical sustainable building solutions, the company has grown to over 50 employees. In 2011, the firm has been recognized as one of the Top 300 Small Businesses of the South and ranked on Inc.’s list of fastest-growing private companies in America. Epsten Group is the global leader in LEED certification reviews, having provided over 5,500 reviews in more than 50 countries.
